April is Autism Awareness Month, and our GAPFA partner HABRI (the Human Animal Bond Research Institute) has created a great infographic highlighting recently-published research results from a HABRI-funded Feline Friends study.
The infographic is highlighting results from the first-of-its-kind study investigating the impact of pet cat adoption on children with autism and their families. The study found that after adoption of a temperament-screened shelter cat, children experienced an increase in empathy, a decrease in separation anxiety and hyperactivity/inattention, and that the children and their families bonded almost immediately with their new pet cat.
